Facilitating Online Learning Communities

My formal education occurred at Grove City College for undergrad (English Education, Spanish) and Rutgers University for grad school (Ed Admin). Professionally, I’ve enjoyed using the full range of my K-12 Spanish and 7-12 English certifications. I’ve taught almost everything from Intro to Spanish to Spanish 4, and spent most of my in-person time working with middle school students in Morristown, NJ. I also taught summer Math & Language Arts Literacy to elementary ELs and provided year-round home instruction in both English and Spanish.

During my time in NJ, in addition to acting as a middle school team leader, I served as the chair for “house” events. I designed team-building assemblies, coordinated community service events, and implemented anti-bullying activities in accordance with NJ guidelines.

Now, I love digging into themes of student self-responsibility, SEL/CRS, and 21st Century Learning. With work fully online, my in-person time includes coaching a Lego FIRST Robotics team. At work and home, I’m an organizer and planner- what comes next? New teaching strategy? State park to visit? Board game to play? We’re there!
